Hillary is a Registered Art Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI). She has experience using evidenced-based and trauma-informed approaches while providing individual, group, and family therapy for adolescents and adults. She has provided therapeutic support for people experiencing emotional difficulties due to trauma, low self-esteem, work and school stress, relationships, and medical issues.
Hillary integrates art therapy and verbal therapy to help gain a deeper understanding of clients’ challenges and build upon strengths to move toward emotional healing. Art therapy uses art materials and the creative process to help people explore underlying issues and express thoughts and feelings. Art therapy never requires an individual to be artistic. Hillary has experience blending art therapy with traditional talk therapy as a client chooses.
Through experience Hillary has found that clients appreciate a kind, non-judgmental, down-to-earth atmosphere, and a sense of humor. She provides a safe and creative space for people to work through solutions to problems, gain new perspectives, identify inner strengths, and nurture their self-compassion. It is her goal that clients leave therapy with perspectives, resources and tools that empower them to confidently live the life they want.
